A Clearer Course Through  Complicated Tax Scenarios

The accountant executors, trustees, and attorneys call when it has to be right. Kevin P. Ellis, CPA is a solo practice built around two core areas of focus: trust and estate accounting, and the financial side of divorce. We focus on this nuanced and detailed work, done directly by the person you hire.

Clear Conversations. Thoughtful Guidance.

I built this practice around one thing because that's how you actually get good at something. Every client works with me directly, from the first call through the last filing — no associates, no handoffs, no getting passed to whoever's available.

Estate and family law attorneys across Long Island and New York City refer clients to me for exactly that reason. When you're named executor of an estate, or trying to make sense of a divorce settlement, you want the person on the other end of the phone to actually know the work — not just know of it.

support for every stage of planning.

Trusts & Estates

Fiduciary accountings, trust income tax returns (Form 1041, NY IT-205), and New York estate tax returns (Form ET-706) — the full accounting picture for an estate or trust, handled in one place instead of split across multiple people. Estate attorneys refer their clients here specifically because they know it'll be done right and on time.

How We can Work Together.

Divorce Financial Analysis

Your attorney handles the law. I handle the numbers. Dividing assets isn't just about splitting totals evenly — a retirement account and a brokerage account worth the same amount on paper can carry very different tax bills once the money actually changes hands. I work through asset division, spousal support and maintenance analysis, and divorce tax planning so you know the real, after-tax value of what's on the table before you sign anything. Some of these decisions can't be undone once the settlement is final — better to have the full picture going in.
